Hiya. Just a suggestion. You may want to send something out to readers to let them know how to check if they are subscribed. I’m likely not the only one who has signed up for several Substack newsletters and doesn’t remember the ones to which they actually subscribed. (I do know I’m subscribed to the Food Section!)

I am subscribed. I love supporting journalism that goes beyond click bait and explores stories and topics more far afield. Is your promotion going to apply to those of us currently subscribed? It wasn’t clear to me?

Thanks for your great stories. Your writing helps me support some of the great food ways of the southeast. I view your Substack as an important reference and reminder of southern food history and it’s future.

You were a brave soul to strike out on your own as you did. I enjoy my subscription to The Food Section and when I see the name pop up on my email list, that's definitely a "Happy Thought" for that day! Folks who are still poaching you should know that you are one of the most respected folks in the culinary world and that an investment in a subscription to The Food Section is money well spent. So, I would say to them, better get on board 'cause it looks like the train is about to leave the station. Should they be surprised?

Can I pay more money to join a tribunal that decides which freeriders wind up on the chopping block? I know you said it would be at-random but... what if it wasn't?

Well written! "Off with their heads!", to quote the Queen from Alice in Wonderland.

I followed your reviews long time in CHS P&C.

Your culling email for free readers, non subscribers on Substack seems kinda like a threat!

That cinched my decision. But, why?

I am guessing that Substack charges you $$ as a writer, if you have too many email subscribers?? Not sure how possible. Maybe they charge your for content storage?

But I looked up, Substack is free and you can publish text and audio without paying for storage.

So cull away, i dont like threats to subscribe and gladly unfollow you.
