Garlic crab maestro Brittney Simmons had by far the toughest task at The Food Section’s subscribers’ reception this past Saturday. Since she’d last year created a design featuring the newsletter’s initials, I asked her to render its logo in corn.
Since a pencil wearing a toque isn’t a familiar sight, the completed shape served as a Rorschach test for seafood fans, with associations ranging from sacred to profane. But what I saw in the centerpiece of The Food Section’s celebration of its partnership with The Assembly was a promise of more good times ahead.
We’re tremendously excited for what the coming year holds, and hope you’ll join us on March 9, 2024 to toast it. (Most likely with Grapico, a remnant of my Southern beverage tour and the sleeper hit of the party.)

Plus, a pair of images submitted by subscribers Belinda Chang (left) and Greg Lovelace (right). If you have event pictures to share, we’d love to see them on The Food Section’s Facebook page!
Thanks Hanna for all the super hard work this year. Your insights continue to surprise and educate. Glenn and the AM Research Team
This looks like it was so much fun (both years). Now that I’ve moved back to the South, I hope I can come to a future Food Section + Assembly celebration. Glad to be a subscriber and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the team.
